Responsible betting

In addition to a diverse range of entertainment, today's leisure society has at its disposal a wide and increasingly popular range of sports betting products. It is important to us that our customers bet responsibly and within the limits of their financial capacity. For a small group of people, certain forms of behaviour may be problematic and in the worst case even lead to permanent dependence. In cases of dependence, the way of life of the people concerned can be hugely affected, with betting often being misused to suppress internal conflicts and circumvent unresolved issues. The subconscious drivers of dependence are manifold. Although monetary gain is a strong incentive, it is rarely the primary motive.

ADMIRAL is aware that betting – regardless of the form it takes – can cause personal and social problems and attempts to mitigate this potential risk through education and prevention. ADMIRAL takes the responsibility arising from this seriously through education and prevention, as well as through cooperation with scientific and therapeutic institutions. As regards player protection, for example, ADMIRAL has been cooperating with renowned university institutions, such as the Medical University of Vienna's addiction research and addiction treatment department, therapeutic institutions like the Anton Proksch Institute, and non-profit self-help groups for years.

This package of measures is primarily intended to prevent the emergence of betting abuse and following on from that to make customers aware of treatment options. Anyone who adheres to the following rules for responsible betting can usually prevent betting from becoming addictive before it is too late:

  • Take time out from betting regularly!
  • Set in advance the amount you wish to bet each month!
  • Do not subsequently increase the maximum amount you wish to bet!
  • Set the winnings at which you will stop betting beforehand!
  • Set in advance the amount you are prepared to lose on betting!
  • Never bet if you feel depressed or are under the influence of alcohol or medication!

If you find compliance with any of these six principal rules difficult or feel as if you have developed a betting addiction, please speak with one of ADMIRAL's staff members, who will inform you of professional counselling and treatment facilities in your area.
